Eric Yap & Associates was founded in July 1995 by its founder, Eric Yap. Throughout the past 20 years, we have gradually and firmly built our solid base and made our mark in Klang. YAP BENG ONG, ERIC

Eric Yap is the founder of Eric Yap & Associates, a respected boutique law firm in Klang, Selangor, established in July 1995. With more than three decades of experience in legal practice, Eric is known for his practical, client-focused approach and broad legal expertise.

Eric earned his LL.B. (Hons) from the University of London and is a member of Lincoln’s Inn. he was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1992 and admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1994. Drawing on this strong foundation, he founded the firm to provide quality legal services grounded in integrity and professionalism.

Over the years, Eric has handled a wide range of matters, including civil and commercial litigation, arbitration and mediation, debt recovery, family law, estate planning and conveyancing. His versatility and commitment ensure clients receive clear guidance and effective solutions, whether the matter is straightforward or complex.

Eric also serves as a Commissioner for Oaths and sits on the Disciplinary Committee Panel of the Advocates & Solicitors Disciplinary Board. A strong advocate for alternative dispute resolution, he is an accredited mediator with the Malaysian International Mediation Centre.

Beyond his legal practice, Eric is actively involved in community and charitable work. Eric has been a long-standing member of the Rotary Club of Port Klang since 1999 and has served as the club’s President. Eric is legal advisor to several NGOs and community organizations.

TOH HARNNIANN

Toh was called to the Malaysia Bar in 2003, shortly after which he started his legal career at this firm, as a legal assistant, dealing mainly with civil litigation.

Toh headed the litigation department and was exposed to a great variety of cases, which have significantly contributed to the growth and depth of his legal knowledge and experience.

In 2007, Toh resigned from this firm and took up the position of a senior associate in a leading law firm in Shanghai, China. During his employment there, Toh gained invaluable experience in cross-border trading, high-end corporate and commercial transactions, and dynamic working culture.

In 2009, Toh came back from Shanghai and joined this firm as a managing partner, overseeing the day-to-day business of this firm.

Apart from legal life, Toh is also active in various fields and disciplines. He has authored four best-selling books which he donated all the sales to charities. Currently, he is a DJ of 988, hosting his own programme.

LIM CHOON CHEN, RYAN

Ryan holds an LL.B. (Hons) degree from University of London (International Program) and he obtained his Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP) in the year of 2015 and admitted as an advocate and solicitors of the High Court of Malaya in 2017.

Ryan has been involved in dispute resolution since his call to the bar. He started his legal career where he assisted the litigation department in a wide range of dispute resolution matters including general litigation, construction, banking, land, and he was also exposed to alternative dispute resolution, for instance, arbitration and adjudication.

Ryan’s current practice areas focus on dispute resolution and he handles cases from Magistrate Court, Sessions Court, High Court as well as Court of Appeal.

KHOO NEE WEI

Khoo Nee Wei is currently our Senior Legal Assistant. She obtained her Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) in year 2006 and had undergone her pupilage in the chambers of Ms. Mathimugam a/p Karuppannan of Messrs. Mathimugam Chee & Partners. She was called to the Malaysian Bar in year 2007.

Nee Wei started her legal career with Messrs. Lavinia Dell Akbar Tee & Partners. She was exposed to a great variety of cases and has attended to various conveyancing matters including project sale, sub-sale, tenancy, loan and multi-million dollars transactions during her time as a Senior Legal Assistant with Messrs. Yu & Ling from year 2009 until 31 May 2016. She had gained invaluable experience in corporate and commercial transactions.

Nee Wei was the legal advisor to Persatuan Khoo Tiau Kee Malaysia (2020-2023) and has been involved in charitable/service projects through the Persatuan.

Her current practice areas focus on conveyancing matters including sale and purchase transaction, loan transaction as well as probate and administration of estate. Nee Wei also providing clients with legal advice on dispute resolution matters including general litigation, tenancy disputes, family and matrimonial proceedings.

KANG ROU XUAN

Jasmine hails from Kuala Kurau, Perak. She graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Multimedia University, Melaka Campus, in 2023.

She completed her pupillage under the guidance of Mr Eric Yap at Eric Yap & Associates, where she was exposed to a broad range of legal work. Upon successful completion of her pupillage, Jasmine was retained as a Legal Assistant with the firm.

Jasmine’s areas of practice include conveyancing matters such as sale and purchase of properties and bank loan documentation. She is also involved in matrimonial disputes as well as probate and administration of estates. Through her practice, she regularly assists in the preparation of legal documentation, client consultations, and the management of files from inception to completion.

Jasmine is known for her diligent approach to legal work and her commitment to providing practical and efficient legal solutions to clients.
